Une aide financi\u00e8re a \u00e9t\u00e9 attribu\u00e9e pour l\u2019exploration et le d\u00e9veloppement du sc\u00e9nario par le Conseil des arts du Canada, le Minist\u00e8re des Affaires autochtones de l\u2019Ontario et par le Fonds Canada 150 de la Fondation des arts de Toronto.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">L\u2019histoire raconte le pr\u00e9tendu mariage et la relation personnelle entre la m\u00e8re de clan mohawk Molly Brant et l\u2019anglais Sir William Johnson, agent des Affaires indiennes, lors de l\u2019ouverture des n\u00e9gociations du Trait\u00e9 du Niagara. Bas\u00e9e sur des lettres \u00e9chang\u00e9es entre les g\u00e9n\u00e9raux anglais et les nations autochtones, on nous pr\u00e9sente le cadre du Trait\u00e9 du Niagara de 1764 ainsi que le contexte de cet accord monumental qui a \u00e9tabli les r\u00e8glements de la colonisation du Canada. Le trait\u00e9 a permis le rassemblement des vingt-quatre nations et des Anglais sous la Cha\u00eene d\u2019alliance et a \u00e9t\u00e9 consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation autochtone de la Proclamation royale de 1764. La pi\u00e8ce est remplie de d\u00e9tails int\u00e9ressants sur un trait\u00e9 fond\u00e9 sur le wampum, les valeurs v\u00e9hicul\u00e9es par les \u00e9changes, l\u2019importance de la r\u00e9ciprocit\u00e9 et le r\u00f4le de la femme et de la lign\u00e9e maternelle dans les n\u00e9gociations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Le d\u00e9veloppement futur de ce projet comportera l\u2019\u00e9largissement du contexte historique, ainsi que l\u2019insertion et l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration du dialogue, et mettra en lumi\u00e8re le r\u00f4le des femmes au sein du Conseil iroquois.
